Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious assault in Newcastle city centre left a man in a life-threatening condition.
Officers say the incident happened around 5.10pm yesterday on Claremont Road, where a man in his 50s was riding a bicycle when he was approached by two people on a moped. One of them allegedly pushed him off his bike, causing him to fall and suffer serious head injuries.
He was taken to hospital and remains in a critical condition.
Two boys, aged 16 and 14, were arrested in Walker Park, off Scrogg Road, on suspicion of wounding with intent to commit grievous bodily harm.
