POLICE APPEAL AFTER INCIDENT OUTSIDE NEWCASTLE BAR

Northumbria Police are appealing for information after a man in his 20s suffered a serious hand injury during an assault outside a bar in Newcastle city centre.

It happened on Nelson Street at around half past eleven on Thursday, February 19th.

The victim was in the outdoor seating area when a woman he didn’t know approached him and became aggressive. She pushed him, causing him to fall backwards. He was holding a glass tumbler at the time, which smashed and caused a significant injury to his hand. He was taken to hospital and required surgery, but has since been discharged.

Police have released a CCTV image of a woman they’d like to trace, who may have information that could help their investigation.
