POLICE LOOK TO IDENTIFY MAN FOLLOWING REPORTED RAPE IN NEWCASTLE

Police have released an image of a man they would like to speak to as part of an ongoing investigation into a reported rape in Newcastle.

The incident was reported to have taken place on Thursday, February 5, after a woman spent the evening in Newcastle city centre.

According to police, the woman, who is in her late teens, reported that she was raped at her home address by a man she had met earlier that night.

The incident was later reported to officers, who launched an investigation.

Since then, detectives have been carrying out a range of enquiries, including a recent review of CCTV footage gathered as part of the investigation.

Following those enquiries, officers have identified a man they believe may be able to assist with their investigation.

On Monday, Northumbria Police issued an appeal to the public for help in identifying the man pictured.

Anyone who recognises him, or who has information that could assist the investigation, is asked to contact Northumbria Police.
