POLICE APPEAL AFTER ASSAULT OUTSIDE GREGGS

Northumbria Police are appealing for help after a man was assaulted outside Greggs in Newcastle city centre.

Officers say it happened shortly after half past two on the morning of Wednesday, June the 24th, outside the bakery on Grainger Street.

A small group of men had reportedly been refused entry to the premises when a verbal altercation broke out.

Police say the victim, a man in his 40s, was then punched in the face and racially abused. He did not need hospital treatment.

Following a review of CCTV footage, officers have released an image of a man they'd like to speak to, as they believe he may have information that could help with their investigation.
